Terms of Use
Last updated: 23 October 2026
This is a translation. The Italian version (Termini d’uso) prevails in case of differences.
These terms govern your use of the Rideband app, developed by Gabriele Ruiz. By using Rideband you accept them. Please read in particular the section on safety.
The service
Rideband lets riders talk to each other through their phones, connected directly with Wi-Fi Aware, without servers or internet. It works only between compatible phones, within radio range, and its range and quality depend on the phones, the environment and your helmet intercom. Some features may not be available on every phone.
Safety first
- Set up the app, pairing and groups before you leave. Never handle your phone while riding.
- Follow the laws of your country on the use of headsets, intercoms and phones while riding.
- Keep the volume at a level that lets you hear traffic and emergency vehicles.
- Rideband is not a safety or emergency device: the connection can drop at any time. Do not rely on it to call for help.
Free rides and purchase
Pairing and the audio test are free. The first 5 rides are free; after that, a one-time in-app purchase unlocks unlimited rides on your account. Prices are shown in the store before you buy. Payments, refunds and the right of withdrawal are handled by Apple or Google under their terms. You can restore your purchase on a new phone with the same store account.
Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Rideband on devices you own or control. If you downloaded Rideband from the App Store, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. You may not resell the app or remove its notices; reverse engineering is not allowed except where the law permits it. Rideband includes open-source components (Opus, MapLibre, OpenStreetMap data) under their own licences, listed in the app.
Your conduct
Use Rideband lawfully and respectfully. Share group codes only with people you trust: whoever has the code is in the group. Do not record others without their consent, and do not use the app to harass anyone. You are responsible for the content you send.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Rideband reliable, but we cannot guarantee that it is always available, error-free or compatible with every phone or future system update. We may update or change features. Since everything runs on your phones, Rideband keeps working as long as your phones support it.
Liability
Rideband is provided as it is. To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect damages, lost data or damages caused by dropped connections, by the use of the app while riding, or by third-party services (stores, maps). Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under the law of your country, including under the Italian Consumer Code and EU law, nor liability that cannot be excluded by law (such as for wilful misconduct or gross negligence).
Apple App Store
If you downloaded Rideband from the App Store: these terms are between you and the developer, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support; for any failure of the app to conform to a warranty you may notify Apple, which will refund the purchase price, and Apple has no other warranty obligation; Apple is not responsible for claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance and intellectual property claims; Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. You confirm you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and not on a U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of your place of residence. You can also use the EU online dispute resolution platform.
Changes and contact
If these terms change, the new version is published on this page with a new date; continuing to use Rideband after the change means you accept it. Questions: gabrieleruiz.dev@gmail.com.
